Applications Engineering Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Be the technical resource (SME) for the company supporting Regional Sales Managers, Customer Service, Shop Assembly & Quality Control
  • Support sales efforts by identifying application requirements, needs and value propositions, from both sales and the customer, then developing the appropriate hydraulic valve and/or controls solution to satisfy the application. Solutions can include catalog products, specialty valves, OEM specific product, manifold assemblies, component kits, systems, and electronic controls packages.
  • Develop Project Drawings (hydraulic circuit drawings, 3D models, and 2D drawings, bill of materials, circuit designs, data sheets, Specifications, etc.) simulations, calculations, reports, specifications, or any other technical related documentation needed to capture custom solutions business.
  • Provide engineering support and any required documentation to facilitate the proper building, assembly, testing, and QA inspections of any application solution or assembled product.
  • Develop and perform technical/product training for sales personnel and engineers at distributors and OEM accounts.
  • Oversee and understand hydraulic test stand, fixtures, instrumentation, and know their safety, operation, and capabilities.
  • Supervise and analyze product performance criteria to meet customer and/or project requirements.
  • Effective planning & co-ordination of projects, using standard tools to direct resources and meet deadlines on projects.
  • Support internal departments in their drive for excellence from contractors, suppliers and third part product houses
  • Oversee and control parts master list, selection of components, creation of BOMs, routings sheets, and all supporting documentation to successful build and fully test products, both standard and modified, custom systems/solutions, and all internal production machines/test stands/fixtures etc.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechatronics preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience working in a hydraulics solution design or fluid power application engineer role
  • Ability to create, read and develop hydraulic schematics based on information provided
  • Solid understanding of proportional products and electro-mechanical control systems.
  • Proficiency and aptitude with Solidworks CAD / 3D modeling Software or similar is required.
  • Experience overseeing multiple Engineering disciplines i.e., ME, EE Engineers.
  • Strong communication, project management, interpersonal and organizational skills preferred
  • Customer facing Sales support experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% travel required, primarily nationally, but occasionally, internationally.
