Job description:

The responsibility of the Conveyor Service Technician (Belt Splicer) is the installation and repair of conveyor belts and conveyor systems at mine and job sites.

  • Ability to perform physical manual labor, in the outdoors, heavy industry, construction or mining environment.  (Must be able to work in outdoor elements including heat and rain at times).
  • Mechanical aptitude competence in the use of conveyor belt working tools and equipment.
  • Skilled to perform conveyor belt splicing; requires knowledge of belts and related equipment to perform the splice.
    • lap splice, finger splice, and cable belt splice
    • basic rigging, lifting and slinging
    • pulley lagging including ceramic, poly and rubber lagging.
  • Promote safety by working adhering to company safety guidelines; which includes but is not limited to the proper use and safe handling of tools, equipment and materials and use of personal protective gear.
  • Be willing and able to work a variety of schedules; day and evenings, weekend and holiday, and also be willing to travel and work out of town on an as needed basis.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and work independently and in a team environment.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing, in a clear, effective and professional manner.
  • Document job-site work as required; materials, labor and other costs used on jobs.
  • Be the lead on a 4 person team

Requirements

  • Experience in conveyor belt repair and maintenance (3-5 years)
  • Experience in the construction, mining, power plant industry, preferred
  • Beginner / Intermediate computer skills, proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook, preferred
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of both OSHA and MSHA safety standards, training, and compliance issues.
  • Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing and equipment (face-shield, gloves etc.)
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Travel required.
