Project Engineer

Our client, a manufacturer of premium recycling equipment, is looking to add to their team in the United States:

 

Junior Project Engineer
Reports to: Head of Projects

 

Job location: Charlotte, NC

The Project Engineer has responsibility over the project after it is handed over from the sales
department until the project is handed over to the customer. The project engineer must ensure that the project is delivered to the customer as specified, and he/she is responsible for coordinating the final installation/commissioning. The job requires experience and profoundness in cooperation and completion of complex projects, setting deadlines and pre/post calculation follow-ups.

Duties and responsibilities

The Project Engineer must take full ownership of the following duties and responsibilities:
• Be a part of the initial sales phase and give input based on the project information provided.
• Approve the business case developed in sales.
• Create the project in the ERP system and maintain this, through the active project period.
• Communicate with sales, designers, electrical engineers and the customer to ensure the optimal
solution for all stakeholders.

• Customer centricity is key, being close to them requires onsite visits understanding their needs.
• Generate ERP parts lists for the project.
• Can lead large and complex projects in a cross -functional environment.
• Schedule with purchasing and planning, ensuring on time delivery.
• Develop new ideas in relation to the field the project manager is working in.
• Is actively participating in weekly project meetings, in relation to the active projects and status on
KPI’s.
• Is following all procedures and instructions in own department.

 

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of experience in working with technical projects in the recycling/material handling or a related industry
• Heavy industry experience (e.g. in the waste segment) is beneficial
• Educational background in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• Working knowledge of ERP Systems
• CAD skills (Autodesk Inventor and Autocad)
• The ability to work against a timeline and the understanding that deadlines must be respected and projects must be delivered successfully, in some cases under pressure
• Knowledge of contract management
• Solid communication skills; prior experience working for a European company is beneficial; understanding for the European mentality absolutely necessary
• Selfstarter and the ability to work efficiently under minimal supervision
