Technical Sales Representative


  • Interact with equipment operators’ personnel (maintenance managers, purchasing managers) to determine customers’ needs for spare parts and equipment up-grades
  • Communicate customer requests and needs to company’s service department at the German head office
  • Technical writing of proposals and marketing materials
  • Request proposals from third party vendors
  • Order entry into company’s database system
  • Oversees and facilitates order progress (supply of documentation, shipping schedule, installation planning)
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering or other recognized field of Engineering/Technical discipline
  • Experience in an equivalent position with a custom engineered machinery supplier
  • Preferred to have experience in the wood products industry
  • Organizational Skills necessary to work multiple sales efforts
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English language
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Good computer skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience with ACCPAC and Navision business software preferred
  • German language a plus but not required

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time
  • Will require up to 60% travel in North America, with travel required overseas
