Tool Maker

Responsibilities                                                    

  • Follow all company policies.
  • Adhere to attendance guidelines.
  • Provide 24/7 technical support for tooling and production on mold issues as required.
  • Assists in the troubleshooting and repair of mechanical and electrical breakdowns involving molds.
  • Ability to assemble, disassemble and convert/upgrade production lines or support equipment as required for repairs, upgrades and/or installations. Can train/instruct others on how to do the same.
  • Maintains a safe working environment; reports unsafe conditions to management.
  • Ability to read and comprehend blue prints and schematics.
  • Ability to comprehend and operate all forms of hand tools.
  • Ability to understand and utilize all types of precision measuring tools i.e.; micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc.
  • Must possess superior knowledge of all conventional machine tools i.e.; mills, lathes, grinders, etc.
  • Must possess the ability to set-up and operate all tool shop equipment (CNC and conventional).
  • Must possess excellent PC, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess a positive “can do” attitude.
  • Understanding the work schedule requirements up to and including flexibility with hours worked on a routine basis.
  • Flexibility would include the ability to work schedules as dictated by business demands and/or customer requirements.
  • Availability to work weekends.
  • Assist in all areas of tooling as required including on the production floor.
  • Keep up to date on all ISO procedures.
  • Fill out all required paperwork.
  • Wear all safety equipment at all times as required by company policy.
  • Be prepared to come in early and /or stay late to accommodate unscheduled mold breakdowns and/or emergencies.
  • Have an awareness of C.C.P. (Critical Control Points).
  • Required training on GMP compliance.
  • Required lock-out tag-out training.
  • Required fork lift operator training.
  • Responsibility for any additional duties assigned by Tooling Manager / Supervisor or Lead Person.

Education and Experience

  • 2+ years of mold maintenance and repair experience required.
  • Toolmaker / Machinist Journeyman certification preferred, or equivalent
  • Ability to utilize a variety of computer software (Microsoft products preferred)
  • Must have good organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle project work and job activities with judgment and independent action.
  • TIG welding experience preferred.
  • While performing these duties you may have to stand and or walk for 12 hours.
  • Employee is required to climb platforms, stairs and up the side of machines to help with the diagnosing and repair of in-press maintenance on mold issues.
