Recruiting 4.0 – A better way to get what you need

Better Way Sign

I know that most people think of recruiters as interchangeable and disposable but the landscape is changing and the people who are recruiting are changing. We are working to develop long-term relationships with our clients and their teams to ensure that we deliver the best possible candidates and service. In a perfect world our clients bring us into their fold and share their plans for the future of their business so we can partner with them to help bring that to fruition. So to help underscore that idea below are a few areas of communication that will bring enormous benefits to your team.

What we need to know from HR…

When we speak to a HR professional we are hoping to understand what your efforts have been to this point, what you have found in the market space so far and what has not been a good fit or what is missing. We are looking for brutal honesty for this interaction.

What we do with this information…

We do our job best when we have a clear picture of the process, the people, the culture and the history. We don’t want to cut HR out of the picture because often times this team is our best means of moving the process forward and keeping all parties focused on the organizational goals. So the best way to keep things going is to keep communication open. We can work with pretty much anything you throw our way as long as we are aware and we can bring you the best possible candidates rather than people who you already know won’t be a fit. This will save you valuable time and effort which we all know makes a big difference for the company.

What we need to know from the hiring manager…

When we speak to the hiring manager we want to better understand how they manage and develop employees, what training is offered, how they evaluate achievement on their team, what skills gaps they need to fill urgently, what areas do they want extra expertise in and most importantly who they are as a person. We also want to know about future potential needs within the team.

What we do with this information…

Gaining the above information adds extra weight to the recruiting process because we can directly discuss the hiring manager with candidates. Nearly every candidate asks what the hiring manager is like. It also allows us to align what candidates are looking for in a manager with what the hiring manager has to offer creating a stronger appeal when marketing the position. We take into account the future needs of the team in our current search and if we are able to identify areas of expertise then your new hire will put you ahead of the game. When all of these things are considered as part of the recruiting process it can provide long-term retention of new hires and save money and time because the current team is already mobilized with the right set of skills for future needs.

What commitment we need from our clients…

We suggest that all of our clients partner with one recruiting firm on any given search to target the right candidates, engage them in the process and bring them on-board. More recruiters doesn’t mean better candidates, it just means more work and possible multiple people submitting the same person. Recruiters often specialize in a given discipline or industry, so carefully consider if you need a specialist or a generalist because the results are rarely the same much like other service industries.

What we do with this information…

Working with one recruiter helps you to control the narrative and your brand image in the market place. When you partner with a recruiter you work as a team on how to present the opportunity to candidates and decide what to say about the company and the position. You can also ensure that candidates have a positive experience even if they are not hired. Positive brand image is very important in today’s recruiting market place.

Each situation is different and each company is different but that is why customized recruiting solutions can be beneficial in sourcing the RIGHT candidate to fit your needs.
